•RMONPacketCapture/FilterSamplingandPortMirroringcannotbeenabledonthesame
interfaceconcurrently.
•Youcancaptureatotalof100packetsonaninterface,nomoreandnoless.
–Thecapturedframeswillbeasclosetosequentialasthehardwarewillallow.
–Onlyoneinterfacecanbeconfiguredfor
capturingatatime.
–Once100frameshavebeencapturedbythehardware,theapplicationwillstopwithout
manualintervention.
•AsdescribedintheMIB,thefilterisonlyappliedaftertheframeiscaptured,thusonlya
subsetoftheframescapturedwillbeavailablefordisplay.
•Thereisonlyone
BufferControlEntrysupported.
•Duetothelimitationsofthehardware,theBufferControlEntrytablewillhavelimitsonafew
ofitselements:
– MaxOctetsRequestedcanonlybesettothevalue‐1whichindicatestheapplicationwill
captureasmanypacketsaspossiblegivenitsrestrictions.
– CaptureSliceSizecanonlybe
setto1518.
–TheFullActionelementcanonlybesetto“lock”sincethedevicedoesnotsupport
wrappingthecapturebuffer.
•Duetohardwarelimitations,theonlyframeerrorcountedisoversizedframes.
•TheapplicationdoesnotsupportEvents.Therefore,thefoll owingelementsoftheChannel
EntryTablearenot
supported:TurnOnEventIndex,TurnOffEventIndex,EventIndex,and
EventStatus.
•ThereisonlyoneChannelEntryavailab le atatime.
–ThereareonlythreeFilterEntriesavailable,andausercanassociateallthreeFilterEntries
withtheChannelEntry.
• Configuredchannel,filter,and bufferinformationwillbesavedacrossresets,butnotframes
withinthe
capturebuffer.
